Survey data tells us that disasters are more common than we realize at first; 95% of all disasters are caused by more mundane issue such as human mistakes, software complications, and hardware failures. But despite this, few businesses are prepared. This 2-day hands-on technical training course will teach attendees how to design & deploy implementations where Microsoft Azure is used as a DR-as-a-Service (DRaaS) solution, focusing on how Azure can be used as a DR site for vSphere or Hyper-V.

The course will cover:

• Disaster recovery (DR) concepts and options 
• An introduction to Azure Site Recovery (ASR) 
• Understanding the impact of applications on DR design 
• Designing a DR solution using Azure 
• Replicating virtual machines to Azure 
• Orchestrating failover using recovery plans 
• Extending orchestration using Azure Automation 
• Failing over virtual machines to the cloud 
• Restoring virtual machines to existing or new premises 
• Using Traffic Manager to automate failover of online services 
• Migrating virtual machines to the cloud

This course will not cover:

• Managing & orchestrating replication of SANs 
• Using ASR to manage replication between two private sites

Attendees should have the following knowledge – this material is covered in the MicroWarehouse course, “A Hands-On Introduction to Azure Virtual Machines”:

• Using the Azure Portal 
• Understanding & deploying storage accounts, virtual networks, gateways, and VPN

Attendees should also have knowledge and experience of:

• Windows Server 
• Hyper-V (or vSphere) 
• Active Directory
