Microsoft has been in the process of phasing out legacy Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) licenses, gradually migrating them to the New Commerce Experience (NCE).
Most licenses that are still on legacy now are either Non-profit or Academic, although there are still a handful of commercials ones in the wild too. As these licenses come up for renewal, they are auto renewing into NCE under annual commitment with the same billing term as they had under legacy. That’s all fine and we were able to manage them under the old legacy terms, until recently.
There was no announcement or Fanfare, but we have recently discovered that we can no longer manage these subscriptions under legacy terms, If we need to make any changes to the subscriptions, they first need to be migrated to NCE.
It doesn’t change anything unless you need to make a quantity change to a legacy subscription, if you do, you have a couple of options.
Remember, once you add an NCE subscription, you only have 7 days (168 hours to be precise) to make any reductions or cancellations.
If you have a Dynamics 365 license and you are not sure of the NCE migration path, reach out to us and we can assist, some of the current licenses are not available under NCE or have no migration path, but we can help you to figure out your options if needed.
